Justice-Human Rights Minister Felix Chero on Friday said that shelving a constitutional reform bill, such as the one presented by the Executive Branch aimed at submitting a Constituent Assembly to referendum, proves that Parliament legislates with its back to citizens.

"Shelving a constitutional reform bill, which responds to the legitimate demands of the people, proves that Congress legislates with its back to the citizenry," he expressed via Twitter.

The high-ranking official said he hopes that "there are new initiatives on the part of Congress members and civil society that promote a new Political Constitution, through a broad and responsible debate, which listens to all voices of the country."
